MAKING THE VISION WORK
The vision and the book have a variety of backups to help you to grow into and use them.

From A. Wayne Schwab and Member Mission Press
June 4, 2003

To date, you have not received the following list of helps.  You are on the list because of past work together. If, after a look at it, you want to be dropped from the list, just tell me so at membermission@aol.com.

MEMBER MISSION NEWSLETTER – MONTHLY
Member mission news comes from across the church – who is doing what that you can learn from.  It also updates you on revisions of resources and lists new session plans posted on the website recently.  Just available, for example, are: a study guide for six sessions for congregations or other groups; five session plans for a variety of groups; and two sets of revisions of the questions from Appendix A of When the Members are the Missionaries: An Extraordinary Calling for Ordinary People (WTMATM from here on).

WEBSITE
Go to www.membermissionpress.org for these and other helps and ideas.

CONSULTING WITH THE MEMBER MISSION TEAM
There is nothing like a friendly, able helper when you try to do something new.  Our cadre of Member Mission Consultants is small but growing.  We are ready to work on site or by telephone, fax, or email. We find that consulting on site or by telephone works the best of the four.  For consultation, contact us by Fax (518-963-7541) or email (membermission@aol.com).

CONSULTING WITH YOUR PEERS
Seek help from the following people / institutions with whom we are working. They are ready to share their experiences and learnings with you. You will find notes of their initial work with the vision.  Further, those of you listed below can help each other by swapping your questions, experiences, and learnings as well.  For updates on this list, go to the website > Making the Vision Work > Overview of Helps and scroll down to Consulting With Your Peers.

St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, Deerfield, IL
Activity: Finding WTMATM a way to engage the world as "ambassadors for Christ," the rector, Bill Roberts, energized a meeting of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew by: exploring the difference between "group mission" and "member mission;" asking them to list the basics of their faith and ethics and to reflect on one of their present mission fields.  Bill also presented it to a post-CREDO Parish Support Group.  The group helps Bill to work on goals he set for himself as part of a CREDO [Clergy Reflection, Education, Discernment Opportunity] 8-day conference sponsored by the Episcopal Church Foundation.  To make "member mission" the primary way the congregation enacts mission, he is developing a four-to-five week course to establish this vision with a group who will, then, take it on themselves to form small groups to support the approach.  He has offered to present the course to the fall convocation of the deanery and, perhaps, at Chicago's diocesan convention.  He foresees a network of people sharing their experiences as they experiment with the course.

Total Ministry Task Force, Diocese of Oregon
Activity:  Bob Hoffman has written a one page summary of WTMATM as a handout for Total Ministry events in the Diocese of Oregon.  The book is also part of their annotated list of recommended reading.  Further, he reports that the diocesan Commission on Ministry Development has asked the Task Force to draft a "Process to Encourage Lay Ministry" for them.  At his church, St. Michael and all Angels, Portland, leaders of the catechumenal process talk of the six daily mission fields as "areas of life" for ministry; thus avoiding "missionary" and arousing the negative associations some have for the word.
