A way to live a mission in your community:
Receive power to proclaim forgiveness for all wrong in community life; being forgiven frees us from guilt to move on to making communities more loving and just—as always with God’s help.

Life App for the Third Sunday of Easter, 4/15/18 to 4/21/18
This is a reading comes from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Third Sunday of Easter, 4/15/18.
The disciples have just heard of Jesus’ appearance to two of them on the road to Emmaus. As they discuss it, Jesus appears to them as well saying, “Peace be with you.” The disciples think it is a ghost and are terrified. Jesus reassures them saying, “Touch me and see.” He shows them his hands and feet. The disciples are still not sure. Jesus asks for food and eats some broiled fish. [Luke is emphasizing that Jesus is not a ghost. His risen life is different from normal life but it is solid and real.]
Jesus goes on to explain how he has fulfilled the scriptures that the Messiah would suffer and be raised from the dead. Jesus tells them to go to all nations calling for repentance and announcing forgiveness of sins. They will receive power to make this proclamation by the gift of power from God. They are to wait in Jerusalem to be “clothed with power from on high.”
A theme: The disciples will receive power to call for repentance and to proclaim forgiveness of sins to all the world.
