A way to live a mission in your community:
Church people, look to Jesus for help to improve your community, neighborhood, town or city.
Based on I Corinthians 1:1-9
A way to live a mission in your community based on I Corinthians 1:1-9, a reading from The Revised Common Lectionary for the Second Sunday after the Epiphany, 1/15/17. When Paul went to Corinth, he found a house church already there. It had been founded by Aquila and Prisca, Christians forced out of Rome by Claudius (c. 49 CE). Paul left after a year and a half. He writes this letter to settle some controversies that had arisen since he left. Paul recalls that both he and the Christians in Corinth are called to faith by Jesus Christ. The next lines affirm the faith of his readiness and assure them that Jesus will strengthen and protect them in the days ahead.
A theme: Once you call Jesus “Lord,” count on him for strength the rest of your life. All who call Jesus “Lord” are one in him and receive strength for life from him.
