A way to live your mission in your spiritual health:
Live in hope of finding a reason or explanation for events in your life and in world events.
Based on John 1:1-14
A way to live your mission in your spiritual health based on John 1:1-14, a reading from The Revised Common Lectionary for the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ, 12/25/16. John writes about 90-100 AD. He knows the gospels, the prophets, the histories, and the writing of Jewish scripture and Greek philosophy. He puts all of this together in this prolog to his gospel. The word (logos used in Greek philosophy) is what comes from God to form the whole creation. This communication from God sent John the Baptist to prepare the way for God’s light to come among us. The light came in Jesus who was both the agent of creation and God’s way to make God known among us. Most of Jesus’ own people rejected him but those who accepted him were able to become God’s children not by their own achievement by God’s will. The word has become flesh and blood in Jesus who, as God’s son, is full of God’s freely given love (grace) and truth.
A theme: To know God is to know Jesus, God’s freely given light and love to be among us.
