A way to live on mission at home:
Avoid being cruel to children, your own or any other children.
Based on Matthew 2:13-23
A way to live on mission at home based on Matthew 2:13-23, a reading from The Revised Common Lectionary for New Year’s Day and the First Sunday after Christmas, 1/1/17. A dream warns Joseph to take Mary and the baby, Jesus, to Egypt to escape Herod’s wrath. Herod hears the wise men tricked him; there is a child born to be King of the Jews; to protect his throne, Herod orders the killing of all children under two in Bethlehem. (There is no evidence this order of Herod is true. Herod did have a reputation for cruelty.) In a dream, Joseph hears Herod has died and the family returns to settle in Nazareth (Nazareth fits old prophecies.)
A theme: Protect as many children as possible from cruelty.
