A way to live a mission in your home or with your friends:
Be faithful to your spouse; be loyal to your friends; and tell the truth to all.
Based on Matthew 5:21-37
A way to live a mission in your home or with your friends based on Matthew 5:21-37 a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany, 2/12/17. Jesus continues his teaching. He contrasts the traditional teaching (“You have heard”) with his teaching (“But I say”). Concerning adultery, to even look at a woman with lust is adultery. Get rid of whatever causes you to do it. Concerning divorce, the only basis for divorce is adultery. [This exception is not found in Mark or Luke. It may have come from the early church as it followed the instruction to “bind” and “loose” of Matthew 16:19 and 18:18.] Concerning oaths, do not swear by anything; let your “Yes” mean “Yes and your “No” mean “No.”
A theme: Do not betray the trust of your spouse; be truthful in all you say; and keep your promises.
