A way to live on a mission in your community:
Give your community time and energy to a pressing need of your community. Do not let secondary needs become primary.
Based on Luke 9:51-62
[A way to live a mission in your community based on a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for The Sixth Sunday after Pentecost, 6/26/16. Jesus sets out for Jerusalem. The Samaritans in a village will not receive him because they say Samaria has replaced Jerusalem as the holy city. The disciples are angry but Jesus tells them to bridle their anger. As they travel on, three men ask to follow him. To one who will follow him everywhere, Jesus warns him of what is ahead. To one who wants to bury his father Jesus says, “Let the dead bury the dead.” To one who wants to say good-bye to his family, Jesus says, “No, you are looking backward.” All three should put proclaiming the kingdom of God first.
Proclaiming and living God’s kingdom or reign of love and justice must come first.]
