A way to live the mission of your spiritual health:
Self-concern or self-pity can limit your readiness for the self-sacrifice that it takes to be hospitable.
Based on Luke 10:38-42
[A way in the mission of your spiritual health based on a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost, 7/17/16. (Scholars say Martha, not Mary, is the main character in this story.) Martha welcomes Jesus into her home. Her sister, Mary, takes her place sitting at Jesus’ feet for instruction. Martha complains to Jesus about all the work of hospitality being left to her. Jesus rebukes Martha for letting self-concern cloud her good work as a hospitable hostess. Mary is doing what she can do well.
A theme: Self-concern can inhibit the doing of one’s mission, in this case, hospitality.]
