A way to live a mission in your leisure or play time

If your leisure or play time always has marks of being lovingly or justly carried on, you can be sure it will refresh you and your world.

Based on Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52

A way to live a mission in your leisure or play time based on Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52, a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, 7/30/17.

Jesus tells five parables about the kingdom of heaven.  [The kingdom of heaven can be understood as life where God’s rule of love and justice prevails.]   When you live lovingly and justly; a small start of loving and just living becomes the quality of all your life just like the small mustard seed becomes a tree and birds nest in it; a bit of living this way takes over your whole life just as a small amount of yeast leavens the whole loaf; a taste of living this way is so good you spend all of your resources and energy to grow in living this way like a person who discovered gold in a field or like a merchant who finds a most valuable pearl and sells all he has to buy it; and it is like a net that catches all kinds of fish and the fishermen keep the good fish and get rid of the bad fish.  In the end of time, the angels will keep all that is good and burn up all that is bad.  When Jesus asks if the crowd understands his parables, they answer yes.  Then, Jesus says that all the scribes [religious teachers] who have learned to live lovingly and justly will be like masters of the house who will bring from his treasures both what is new and what is old.

A theme:  Have confidence to live God’s way of love and justice because it will prosper and improve life for all.
