A way to live your mission in your community:
Elections are difficult times of choice. What places do social justice and the needs of the poor have in your selection of candidate?
Based on Luke 12:49-56
[A way to live your mission in you community based on a reading from The Revised Common Lectionary for The Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost, 8/14/16. Jesus foresees conflict as the people respond to his message. Choosing between God’s reign and the present powers will bring fearsome results. He sees himself sharing in the consequences. Family relationships will break down because of division over whom to follow, Jesus and the kingdom or the present powers of either the Jewish leaders or of Rome. He cites how the people can foretell the weather but do not foretell the serious choices before them.
A theme: See the sharp difference between Jesus’ call to follow God’s ways or kingdom and the ways of either Israel’s leaders or of Rome.]
