A way to live your mission in the wider world:
In your small talk, give social issues around human needs “first place.”
Based on Luke 13:10-17
[A way to live your mission in the wider world based on a reading from The Revised Common Lectionary for The Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost, 8/21/16. Jesus is teaching in a synagogue on the Sabbath and heals a woman who had been crippled for eighteen years. He pronounces her free, lays hands on her and she stands up straight. The leader of the synagogue is indignant because he had healed on the Sabbath and says so. Jesus calls him a hypocrite because the man unties his ox or donkey for water to drink on the Sabbath and, so, does work. Jesus asks should she not be set free on the Sabbath after eighteen years. His opponents are ashamed and the people rejoice.
A theme: Human needs take precedence over customs and rules.]
