Life App for the week of the Transfiguration, 2/11/18 to 2/17/18

A way to live a mission at home and with friends:

In talk with your family and friends about Jesus, be sure his death and resurrection shape what you say and believe about him.

Based on Mark 9:2-9

A way to live a mission at home and with friends based on Mark 9:2-9, a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Transfiguration (The Last Sunday after the Epiphany), 2/11/18.

Jesus takes just Peter, James, and John up a high mountain.  Jesus’ appearance changes radically.

His clothes become dazzling white—whiter than anyone could bleach them.

Moses and Elijah appear and talk with Jesus.  Peter is happy with what he sees and wants to prolong the appearance by making dwellings for Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.  Peter, James, and John become speechless with fear.

A cloud appears and a voice is heard saying, “This is my Son, the Beloved, listen to him.”  Suddenly, Peter, James and John see no one but Jesus.  As they come down the mountain, Jesus orders the three to tell no one what they have seen until after Jesus has risen from the dead.

A theme:  You can glimpse the truth in Jesus but you will not understand Jesus fully until after you include his death and resurrection in what you believe.
