A way to live a mission in your community.
Each of us is called to be a responsible member of our community; accept the call or lose the good things your community offers.

A way to live a mission in your community based on Matthew 22:1-14, a reading from the Revised Common Lectionary for the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, 10/15/17.
[Jesus is working with the chief priests and elders who are questioning his authority for what he has been doing.] A king gave a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his slaves to call all who had been invited but they would not come. He sent other slaves to repeat the invitation. Some who would not come offered excuses of farming and business. The rest mistreated and killed the slaves. In anger, the king sent his troops to destroy the murderers and burn their city. The king calls the invited unworthy and sent his slaves into the streets to invite all they meet. Both good and bad came filling the entire hall.
The king came in to see the guests. He saw one guest who was not wearing a wedding robe and was speechless when asked why. The king told his attendants to bind him hand and foot, and threw him out amid the wails of the others. Jesus comments that many are called to follow God’s way but few are chosen [that is, few have chosen to accept God’s choice of them.]
A theme: Accept God’s call to follow God’s way; do not treat it as a call to be taken or ignored as you want.
