Life Apps for the week of 3/15/15 to 3/21/15

A way to live is posted weekly; the rest bi-weekly.
A way to live:
Frustrated?  You live each day as responsibly as you can and things are not going well for you.  Tempted to give up and put yourself first in all things?  Don’t.  Being first will not be as rewarding as you had hoped.  Keep to responsible living and the results will have lasting value.
[A way to live John 3:14-21 from the Revised Common Lectionary for 3/15/15; The Fourth Sunday in Lent; live God’s ways of caring and fairness, not some of the other ways that are tempting but finally empty.]

A young African mother

Wider world – “One Woman at a Time: A Healthy Africa Begins with Healthy Mothers and Children” by Reed Mc Manus of Sierra for 11-12/2014.  Africans have the highest fertility rate and the highest infant mortality rate and an outline of solutions that help – “empowering women to make educated family- planning choices is the most effective way.” A similar biblical reference: “No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days” (Isaiah 65:20a).
Spiritual health – “A Natural Fix for A.D.H.D.” by Richard A. Friedman; a professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Weill Cornell Medical College makes a case for A.D.H.D. to be a matter of brain function that responds to the new but gets bored with the routine; applies to both the young and adults; NY Times 11/2/14.  Mental health is a significant factor in spiritual health.  A similar biblical theme: “So Jesus took him and healed him, and sent him away” (Luke 14:4) – God wills our health.
