These weeks, early Christians were living forty days of preparing new comers to prepare to join God’s mission in baptism. These days became our Lenten season, Holy Week and Easter Day, (this year, March 6 – April 21, 2019, now called Lent – short for “lengthening days”— Holy Week and Easter Day.
Keep a faithful Lent, Holy Week and Easter Day by modeling for new comers your own life of seeking to live lovingly and justly every moment.
God, in Jesus Christ, is on mission to make every part of life more loving and more just. Jesus, our risen Lord says, “As the Father has sent me, I send you . . . Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:21-22). The Holy Spirit, the Spirit, is with us every moment helping us to be loving and just. [Other faiths have their own way to call their followers to love and be just all the time.]
Easter Day and every time we break bread together remind us we are being given the power, the Spirit, to make life more loving and more just in every moment.
